April 2005

A tentative look at the results from this years Home Show indicate a very successful show.  All the available booths were sold and attendance was good.  We received many good comments about the Pasquerilla Conference Center.  A clean, high quality facility can make the products displayed appear high quality. The Pasquerilla Center employees were friendly and very helpful especially during set up and tear down.

This is the first time we used the Pasquerilla Conference Center and we received a few suggestions that may help us improve the Home Show next time(ie. parking and food).  Overall, A BIG SUCCESS.

If you see Walt Freidhoff, Walt Brosius, Jim Buhaly, Pat Dumm, Mike Murray, Toyanna Stapleton or Ruth Leventry give them a pat on the back and tell him a job well done!

IRS & PAYROLL RECORDS

The IRS lists frequently asked questions about record retention on its website.  These questions and answers are provided for general information only and should not be cited as any type of legal authority.
  • How long should we keep our payroll records?  Generally, payroll records should be maintained a minimum of four years after the return is filed.
  • What items should be kept? All payroll records should be kept for four years. Some examples are employees W-r forms, time cards, payroll ledgers, worksheets, payroll reconciliation's, copies of payroll tax deposits information and Forms 941. It is important for you to keep documentation to support each deduction from an employee's wages. Deductions from employees wages are later remitted to designated recipients such as taxing authorities, insurance companies, retirement plans, child support and others. Backups of either manual or computerized payroll systems should be made routinely, checked for accuracy and should be stored in a safe place for at least 4 years.
