COMMON MECHANICAL CODE VIOLATIONS   (from the PHRC)

  •     Ventilation for bathrooms into attic space.

  •     Flex-duct exceeding manufacturer�s recommendations for length.

  •     Common air return for 1st and 2nd floors.

  •     Over-cutting at structural member for duct and boots.

  •     Duct tape used for connecting duct.

  •     Water supply lines in the return air duct.

  •     Outside air not provided to gas fireplace and/or outside air not provided to gas appliances in confined space.

  •     HVAC chase not fireblocked at floor-to-floor in concealed framing.

  •     Equipment not vented properly (water heater & furnace).

  •     No indirect waste for HVAC condensate or water heater.

 

COMMON ELECTRICAL CODE VIOLATIONS  
(from the PHRC)

  •     Too much insulation removed from the wire at the connection.

  •     Cable sheathing left too long.

  •     Romex run or boxes installed in return air plenums.  (Note: Romex is permitted to pass through the space but is not permitted to run continuously in a return air space).

  •     Electric panel not labeled.

  •     Back to back electric boxes not permitted in rated wall between dwelling units.
